On a trip to Taupo this week we were thrilled to be able to have dinner two nights of our three night stay at Cobb and Co. We had been looking forward to this since making our accommodation booking some months earlier and you didn't let us down.
Such wonderful memories. The staff at Taupo were amazing and couldnt do enough for us, The meal was perfect and the same as I remember from many years ago. Please roll out more Cobb and Cos around NZ. We don't get to your areas a lot. You have been sadly missed. My children grew up with Cobb and Co. I would love to see my Grandchildren do the same.
While there we asked if it was possible to purchase two of the Cobb and Co wine glasses as mementos. While the staff went out of their way to help with this in the end it was decided that it wouldn't be possible. Can you please advise if there is a way that we can buy two of these wine glasses?
It was great to spend some time with you - we love you

On the menu: A full menu is served all day and includes a $16 lunch menu, a seniors’ menu and a children’s menu which is divided into tots (1-3 years), kids (9-12 years) and teens (13-19), a great way of catering to needs, tastes and portion sizes.
The full menu is varied, with burgers and basics, salads and pastas, and steak and fish cooked to your liking on the grill. For the hungry and traditional (this would be a perfect place to bring grandparents), there is classic tucker like roasts with all the trimmings, lamb shanks, and ribs.
The buzz: The waiting team is friendly and there is a family feel to the restaurant, but there are couples, too.
Seating options are varied and include a dining room for large groups, dining booths for two to six people, a bar area and tables by the fireplace or outside (heaters in winter and icetubs in summer to
keep your beer cool).
There is an Adults’ Gaming Room. We opt for the family area near the toys, which includes a large fish tank and play stations. The staff are very attentive to the children, taking their order first
and bringing them packs of balloons and activity bags, leaving adults time to peruse the menu in
I’ll have: To start, Shrimp Cocktail $12.50—this 70s classic starter is enjoying a revival and it is a refreshing start to a meal on a hot summer’s night. For mains I go with one of the specials, pan-fried
John dory in a coconut cream sauce, with baked potato and sour cream and salad. It is light and tasty, the coconut flavour bringing out fish’s gamey flavour. It is beautifully prepared and delicious.
He’ll have: Buffalo Wings—crispy chicken wings, $12.50, which he doubles up for an extra $8. Just as well as all the children dig in, saying how scrumptious they are. For mains he sticks with the traditional, Beer Battered Fish & Chips, $23.90, with an extra serving of curly fries that again
prove a table hit.
The children all choose Chicken Tenders and Chips and, for $12.90, this includes a drink and dessert. The meals come wonderfully presented in little cars and the desserts are shaped like animals, caterpillar doughnuts for the body, orange for the tail and icecream
scoops for the head.
I couldn’t resist the aptly titled Chocolate Indulgence, $11, a decadent chocolate mud cake with chocolate sauce, chocolate mousse, vanilla icecream and cream. It was moreishly moist and rich.
Value for money: The children’s meals are good value and include a drink and dessert. I like that they are priced by age so, for very young children under 3, you are not paying for a big meal that they wouldn’t eat. It is also a good idea to have a teenager’s menu. Adult meals are also well priced and the portions generous, making it a good option for families of all ages without blowing the
The staff: Very friendly and welcoming. Our bubbly waitress was super attentive to the children.
The verdict: Pleasantly surprised at the standard of adult food—it was a delicious meal all round.
The on-site entertainment for the children means the adults can get some relaxing time in, and the
children’s meals are excellent value.
A great eating option for families or groups with various ages. We had a memorable evening and will definitely be going again

A review from the Rotorua Daily Post
The new premises was previously the site of restaurants such as Sizzlers, Breakers and Kurious Kiwi, but seven months since the opening, Cobb & Co. is still buzzing.
"The Cobb" had a long and proud history at its former site on Hinemoa St before tough times forced its closure. Many a memory would have been made at the restaurant and it's fantastic to see it back in Rotorua under new ownership filling the gap for a quality family restaurant in our city.
The food is family-friendly, affordable and hearty. The menu (available for prior perusal on their excellent website) is extensive with a range of prices from $20 burgers to steaks in the early $30 range. Children are looked after with a tots' menu including dessert for those aged 1-3 for $5.90 and a children's menu for those aged 4-12 for $12.90 (including cool desserts shaped like bumble bees, crocodiles and caterpillars).
Seniors are given a good deal, too, with two courses for $21.50 and three courses for $27.50.
In all honesty, I was expecting the food to be nice but a little on the average side but was pleasantly surprised.
My friend and I took along our 4-year-olds to make the most of the family atmosphere and none of us were disappointed.
A Pink Panther was ordered as my own childhood memories of going to Cobb & Co. in Christchurch came flooding back.
I ordered the Angus Pure Scotch 300g with creamy mushroom sauce ($34.90) and sides of garlic prawns and crispy onion rings. It was served with salad and fries.
The steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. The mushroom sauce was amazing and the garlic prawns and onion rings made me feel spoilt.
My friend ordered the Cobb Carnivore, which is 200g Angus Pure Rump steak plus five of Cobb's Country Ribs ($33.40) with mashed potato, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. She was more than satisfied and ended up having to take a doggy bag home.
The kids had nachos and fish and chips and chowed them down before running off to the kiddie play area to stare at the big fish tank and play with the toys.
The service was fantastic. The restaurant was packed (although the staff said it was a quiet night for them) and there were plenty of staff catering to our needs. They were conscious of big tables ordering ahead of us and the need to get the children fed as quickly as possible. A scan of the familiar faces on the staff shows the owners have done a good job plucking some of the best hospitality staff from the city.
Overall I was very impressed with Cobb & Co. The fit-out is true to how I remember it as a child and the facility is an added bonus for Rotorua with its three separate areas that can accommodate functions for between 20-150 people. Added extras like toys and PlayStation for children and free Wi-Fi means this restaurant ticks all the boxes.
