We're a true Kiwi legend, like the pioneers who shaped this country.

HOW THE story began

Cobb & Co., New Zealand's Original Restaurant & Saloon, is strongly reminiscent of our pioneering heritage and oozing that charming, friendly approach that is uniquely Kiwi.

Cobb & Co. is like our national character, it has been shaped from materials that have been hard won and wrestled from the land - stone from the high country, timber from the forests and shaded with experiences and natural colours from our incomparable landscape.

You are always welcome and warmly embraced by an atmosphere that is redolent with the aromas of our favourite food, soft lighting and an open fire. Sizzling steaks, seafood, lamb and pork are complemented with garden fresh vegetables and wickedly delicious desserts.

This classic Cobb & Co. fare is made complete with a range of New Zealand ales and wines, which we can justifiably claim as being some of the finest in the country.

Cobb & Co's Early Stagecoach Beginnings
Cobb & Co. Tauranga receives fantastic restaurant review Congratulations Cobb & Co. Tauranga on a job well done! Annemarie Quill of Indulge Magazine dined with us in early March.  We are proud to post her review which was published in the March 7 edition of Indulge Magazine.Memorable meal for whole familyCobb & Co.105 The Strand, DowntownTauranga, 3110Phone (07) 928 0444Mon-Fri 12 noon until 9.30pmSat&Sun 11.30am until lateOn the menu: A full menu is served all day and includes a $16 lunch menu, a seniors’ menu and a children’s menu which is divided into tots (1-3 years), kids (9-12 years) and teens (13-19), a great way of catering to needs, tastes and portion sizes. The full menu is varied, with burgers and basics, salads and pastas, and steak and fish cooked to your liking on the grill. For the hungry and traditional (this would be a perfect place to bring grandparents), there is classic tucker like roasts with all the trimmings, lamb shanks, and ribs. The buzz: The waiting team is friendly and there is a family feel to the restaurant, but there are couples, too.Seating options are varied and include a dining room for large groups, dining booths for two to six people, a bar area and tables by the fireplace or outside (heaters in winter and icetubs in summer tokeep your beer cool). There is an Adults’ Gaming Room. We opt for the family area near the toys, which includes a large fish tank and play stations. The staff are very attentive to the children, taking their order firstand bringing them packs of balloons and activity bags, leaving adults time to peruse the menu inpeace.I’ll have: To start, Shrimp Cocktail $12.50—this 70s classic starter is enjoying a revival and it is a refreshing start to a meal on a hot summer’s night. For mains I go with one of the specials, pan-friedJohn dory in a coconut cream sauce, with baked potato and sour cream and salad. It is light and tasty, the coconut flavour bringing out fish’s gamey flavour. It is beautifully prepared and delicious. He’ll have: Buffalo Wings—crispy chicken wings, $12.50, which he doubles up for an extra $8. Just as well as all the children dig in, saying how scrumptious they are. For mains he sticks with the traditional, Beer Battered Fish & Chips, $23.90, with an extra serving of curly fries that againprove a table hit.The children all choose Chicken Tenders and Chips and, for $12.90, this includes a drink and dessert. The meals come wonderfully presented in little cars and the desserts are shaped like animals, caterpillar doughnuts for the body, orange for the tail and icecreamscoops for the head. I couldn’t resist the aptly titled Chocolate Indulgence, $11, a decadent chocolate mud cake with chocolate sauce, chocolate mousse, vanilla icecream and cream. It was moreishly moist and rich.Value for money: The children’s meals are good value and include a drink and dessert. I like that they are priced by age so, for very young children under 3, you are not paying for a big meal that they wouldn’t eat. It is also a good idea to have a teenager’s menu. Adult meals are also well priced and the portions generous, making it a good option for families of all ages without blowing thebudget. The staff: Very friendly and welcoming. Our bubbly waitress was super attentive to the children. The verdict: Pleasantly surprised at the standard of adult food—it was a delicious meal all round. The on-site entertainment for the children means the adults can get some relaxing time in, and thechildren’s meals are excellent value.A great eating option for families or groups with various ages. We had a memorable evening and will definitely be going again—Annemarie QuillDownload a copy of restaurant review: Click here  Creating Free Fun for our Little Cobbers! Meet our Cobb & Co. Illustrator Eddie Booth. As New Zealand’s Original Family Restaurant, at Cobb & Co. we work hard to ensure that every child’s dining experience is a fun and enjoyable one!  For this reason we have always had a dedicated menu that’s fun for Tots and Kids, and affordable for parents to boot!  However, during 2014 the team began collaboration on a project with "Little Cobbers” in mind, something new and just a little bit super special, our Cobb family!  These loveable characters have been specially developed to ensure that kids of all ages have fun while enjoying family time at Cobb & Co.  Starting with an initial concept of a family of 12 cartoon characters created by Cobb Group CEO Chris Churchward, the characters have been further developed to have a variety of personalities from the cheeky trouble maker to an Anti-Bully ambassador.   "Over the past 10-15 years I’ve had many interesting illustration projects land on my desk, but when Chris came to me last year with his concept of a Cobb family of characters, I was very excited” says Illustrator, Eddie Booth.  Eddie goes on to explain that although Chris had an idea of his characters persona, time was spent evaluating well known publications like Asterix, Footrot Flats, Disney’s Pooh Bear and even old TV shows for inspiration.  "The final touches on the style for this illustration project were ultimately determined by the original table top Stage Coach chippy box artwork from 1974, so there’s a little bit of Cobb & Co. history in the fold also” explains Eddie.  The Cobb family of characters can be viewed online via a dedicated website appropriate for all children, there they will find profile information and colour-ins currently available with plans for online games to come at a later date.  But for now the team are really excited to be able to introduce the unique range of Cobb family products available in our restaurants right now to enhance every kid’s experience at Cobb & Co. Already available are Cobb Character Photo Booths, Cobb & Co. Fun Bags, which contain colour ins and a series of Collector Cards, with Cobb character party hats and other items available for when kids have chosen to celebrate their big day with us.  Pictured is Cobb character illustrator Eddie Booth with Tauranga’s Photobooth featuring Angus Cobb and Penny Peacock along with a Cobb & Co.
